Daemon was an Augmented Reality squad-based Live Action Role Playing Game, designed over the course of a year, and scheduled for release on SCAD Savannah Campus April 2016. Content for Daemon was both live action, web-based, and video-based. Daemon was successfully funded on Kickstarter on April 13th, 2016.
Gameplay was centered around squads of five to ten players, who compete with one another and are led through combat scenarios by a "Decker", a player on their team, who uses Google Cardboard to solve Augmented Reality puzzles placed in the environment of the SCAD dorms. Players fight one another using foam-dart based blasters.
At the conclusion of the game, the Daemon team held a gallery show at Sulfur Studios on April 17th, with over a hundred submissions from more than twenty local and international artists. The show centered around Glitch and New Media Art, it explored technology's relationship with humanity and other themes that Daemon addressed.
My role on the project as a concept artist was to design costuming and props for our NPC factions and player classes. I also developed gameplay missions for the game and constructed the props. Below are concepts for costuming, player class props, weapon licenses, and some UI for the augmented reality. A reel of gameplay and a trailer are below as well and in accordance to the kickstarter the rest of the game is being documented and released later this year.
